Ashley Marie Dorey

It is with extremely broken hearts that we announce that Ashley lost her battle with metastatic breast cancer, at May Court Hospice, on September 20, 2024, at the age of 37.

In true Ashley fashion, she has written her own obituary. 

In loving memory of Ashley, a true warrior. Ashley's journey began in 2022 when breast cancer knocked on her door, challenging her strength and resilience. With two young boys, Landon and Jaxson, she faced the battle head-on, determined to conquer the enemy within. 

Through her blog, she shared the raw, unfiltered truth of her cancer journey - the highs, the lows, and the moments in between. With a heart as big as the ocean, Ashley poured her soul into each post, weaving sarcasm with inspiration, and honesty with humor. Her words became a lifeline for many, a beacon of light in the darkness of illness. 

In February 2024, the beast returned, spreading its tendrils to her brain, liver, lungs, kidney, and lymph nodes. Yet, Ashley's spirit remained unbroken. Surrounded by her family, her best friend, and a community of supporters and followers she had touched with her empathy and compassion, she faced each day with unwavering courage. 

Ashley's legacy is not just in her words but in the lives she touched. Her ability to put others before herself, to listen, to understand, and to comfort, will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a world that is a little brighter, a little kinder, because she was in it. 

As we say goodbye to Ashley, let us carry forward her message of love, of resilience, and of never giving up. In her memory, let us embrace each day with the same fierce determination and unwavering compassion that she showed us all. 

Rest in peace, dear Ashley. Your light will continue to shine bright in the hearts of those you have left behind.

Left to mourn her loss are her 2 sons who she loved more than life itself, Landon Taylor and Jaxson Henwood, her parents Hans and Mary Anne (McElwain) Lyster, brothers, Jim (Manon), Duane, Jason (Michèle), Brian (Lorriane) Dorey and Mike Donnelly, her sisters Melanie Donnelly and Vickie (Scott Wales) Dorey, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Ashley was predeceased by her father Wayne Dorey and her nephew Konur Wicks.

At Ashley's request, there will be no funeral service. For anyone wishing to pay their respects and share their memories, please join us for a Celebration of Life at St. Mary's Hall, 1171 Smith Rd, Navan, ON, October 5, 2024, between 1:00 and 4:00 pm.
