Obituary

Arthur Kerr, age 93, of Orleans, Ontario, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 31, 2026, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Arthur was a devoted husband, father, and friend whose easygoing nature and charismatic spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He shared a loving marriage of 40 years with his beloved wife, Diane Kerr. Together they built a life grounded in companionship, laughter, and unwavering support. He is also lovingly remembered by his son, David Kerr (Jennifer Lesurf). He was predeceased by his father, Thomas Kerr; his mother, Ellen Baker; and his sister, Peggy Carruthers (Erwin Carruthers).

Throughout his life, Arthur built both a successful career and a rich personal legacy. He served as General Manager of the Garden City Shopping Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba prior to his retirement, where his leadership, integrity, and genuine care for people earned him great respect. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Arthur was deeply involved in his community. He proudly served on the Board of Directors for the Toronto Argonauts Rowing Club and was a Level 4 certified Hockey Coach, mentoring and inspiring young athletes with patience and enthusiasm.

Arthur embraced life with passion and positivity. He had a deep love for fishing and camping, and he cherished time spent outdoors. A dedicated sports fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his beloved Toronto Argonauts and the Ottawa Senators. He also enjoyed golfing and curling, always appreciating both the competition and the camaraderie those sports brought. In quieter moments, he could often be found woodworking—crafting with care and pride—or listening to the music of Bob Marley, whose rhythms and messages he greatly enjoyed.

What truly set Arthur apart was his infectious positivity and warm, approachable spirit. He was a person of the people—someone who made others feel welcome, valued, and at ease. His laughter was generous, his stories engaging, and his presence uplifting. Everyone loved to be around Arthur, drawn to his fun demeanour and genuine kindness.

Arthur’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched with his encouragement, leadership, and unwavering good humour. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
