Our dear Annie died on September 10th, 2026. Her death was a release after six years of Alzheimer's.

Born and raised in Virginia, Annie left her beloved family there, and later found her way to Canada via London, England. Her many years of work as a reference librarian at Library and Archives Canada earned her the respect and affection of her colleagues, many of whom remained friends. Annie had a passion for social justice, particularly disability and LGBTQ2+ issues. She was "a fierce and unshakeable ally and advocate..."

To her family and friends, Annie was always generous and loving. She brought a gentle energy to her long relationship with her spouse, Dawne. There were many joyful times with daughters, Morgan and Claire, and extended family. Eventually her family welcomed four lively grandchildren.

Although dementia deprived Annie of a full long life, her spirit was present until the end. Her last home was Grace Manor, the excellent long-term care home of the Salvation Army. There she was compassionately cared for by the third floor staff. We were blessed. "You are my sunshine..."

Annie's celebration of life/church service will be held at Glebe St. James United Church at 10:00am on Friday, October 16th. The service will be livestreamed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Amnesty International, long supported by Annie.
