Annabelle (Anna) Rose Delaney

September 28, 1943 — April 14, 2025

Annabelle Rose Delaney (Anna), 81, passed away unexpectedly on April 14th, 2025. Anna was born to Frederick and Isobelle Delaney on September 28th, 1943, in Kingston, Ontario. Anna grew up in Gananoque, Ontario, and graduated from Regiopolis High School in Kingston. After graduating from the University of Ottawa, she began teaching physical education. Anna lived in the U.S. for a few years before moving back to Canada, where she continued her teaching career. While raising her boys and earning her master’s degree in education from Queen's University, Anna taught at various schools in the Leeds and Grenville area. Anna finished her tenure in education, serving as a school administrator in numerous indigenous communities across northern Canada. Anna had a contagious smile paired with expertise and a love for teaching that impacted the lives of her countless students.

Anna was a competitive athlete, an artist, a nurturing mother, and later in life, a loving wife. During her teen years, Anna was the first female member of the Ganaoque Canoe Club and the first female Canadian Champion in the K1. In her 30s and 40s, Anna competed in many triathlons, biathlons, and marathons, including the Iron Man Triathlon in 1985. During her retirement, Anna could be found participating in and officiating weekly time trials with the Ottawa Bicycle Club or skating laps on the Brewer Park speed skating oval. Anna loved to paint, sculpt, and sing. Her art pieces were made with love and shared with her family and friends. She had an angelic voice and performed in various choirs throughout her life. In 2010, Anna met Morley Dore and were married in 2012 the love of her life! Like two old souls that finally connected, Morley and Anna shared 15 years of joy, happiness, love, and laughter.

Anna is survived by her loving husband, Morley Dore, her sons William (Kimberly Laidlaw) and Kenneth Laidlaw, grandchildren, Liam Laidlaw, Lucy Laidlaw, Jackson Laidlaw, siblings, Diane Delaney, Mary Delaney, John Delaney, niece Megan Delaney, and nephews Peter and Bradley Delaney. She is predeceased by her brother, Frederick Delaney (Elaine Delaney), and her sister Corleen Delaney.

Anna’s celebration of life will be held at Royal Canadian Legion 800 Taylor Creek Drive Orleans ON, on Sunday, September 28th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM on the 2nd floor. Please RSVP to the service below.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice I.E. Ottawa Food Bank, Shepherds of Good Hope etc.
