November 1, 1946 — October 31, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Angelito (Lito) Bangco Dizon peacefully at home on October 31, 2024.

Born November 1st, 1946, in Balanga, Bataan, Philippines. Graduated from Centro Escolar University, Manila, with a Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology. After immigrating to Canada in 1970, Lito began an 18 year career at the Addiction Research Foundation. He then reinvented himself as a florist entrepreneur. Under his company name Iton Philippe, he counted as customers Air Canada and the Airport Sheraton hotel, and worked freelance for several independent shops until retirement. In 1971, Lito became a member of the Fiesta Filipina Dance Troupe. As a dance performer, he appeared across Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Brazil, and the Philippines. In his 53 years with Fiesta, Lito also acted at various times as Artistic Director, costume designer, (including designing and presenting his own fashion show at the Royal York Hotel as a fund raiser), set designer, choreographer, mentor, and co-chair of Fiesta’s Miss Manila pageant. He remained a Board Director at the time of his passing. Lito’s other passions included travel, both land and cruises, to over 40 countries; attending theatre performances at Stratford, Shaw, Mirvish, Soulpepper, the National Ballet, and in New York and Las Vegas. He enjoyed summer cottaging in Muskoka and Haliburton, and wintering in Naples, Fla. A dedicated foodie, he loved to cook and talk recipes, and dined out regularly with family and friends. Lito is missed beyond measure by his partner of 36 years, Bruce Campbell; his sister Linda ( Siegfried) Hoffmann; Brent and Renate Campbell, nephew Evan, and nieces Erika (Colin) Whitmee, and Joy Dacumos. Predeceased by parents Alfredo and Trinidad, brother Ermelo, and sister Estrillita.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 78 Clifton Road (St. Clair Avenue East and Mount Pleasant Road), on November 14 at 11 a.m.. Reception to follow.

Lito said his life was a full, well lived, exciting journey, with a great relationship, family and friends, and no regrets. He will be remembered as the gentle and giving soul he truly was. To quote Irving Berlin, “The song is ended, but the melody lingers on.” God speed and see you on the other side Lito. In lieu of flowers, donations to fiestafilipina@gmail.com would be greatly appreciated.
