It is with deep sadness that the family of André Desrochers announce his passing on Friday, April 10th, 2026, at the age of 64.

André struggled with mental illness and addiction. While his mental illness was not the cause of his death, it contributed indirectly. His family wanted nothing more than for him to find peace, stability and the happy life he deserved. Despite their love and efforts, his mental illness made that incredibly difficult.

André was smart, funny, generous, social and had a big heart. He had a passion and love of science and computers, astronomy, music and fashion ♠. He also had a love for sports, especially hockey. GO HABS GO!

Predeceased by his parents Elmer (Ed) and Gabrielle (née Lefaive), he is survived by his children, Kathleen (Rachel Wilcoxson), Phillip (Crystal Lord), grandchildren Olivia & Ethan and his four brothers, Robert, Michel, Charles and Adrien. He will be greatly missed by good friends Yolla, Najer, Johanne and many others.

A celebration of his life is currently being organized.

The family wish to express their gratitude to the Doctors, nurses and the amazing support staff of the Ottawa Hospital, General Campus.

C'est avec une profonde tristesse que la famille d'André Desrochers annonce son décès, survenu le vendredi 10 avril 2026, à l'âge de 64 ans.

André a constamment lutté contre la maladie mentale et la dépendance. La maladie mentale n'est pas la cause de son décès mais elle y a contribué indirectement. Sa famille n'aurait rien souhaité de plus que de le voir trouver la paix, la stabilité et la vie heureuse qu'il méritait. Malgré leur amour et leurs efforts, sa maladie mentale rendait cela difficile.

André était intelligent, drôle, sociable, généreux et avait un grand cœur. Il était passionné des sciences, l’informatique, l'astronomie, la musique et la mode ♠. Il aimait également le sport, en particulier le hockey. GO HABS GO !

Fils de feu Elmer (Ed) Desrochers et feue Gabrielle (née Lefaive), il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Kathleen (Rachel Wilcoxson) et Phillip (Crystal Lord), ses petits-enfants Olivia et Ethan, ainsi que ses quatre frères Robert, Michel, Charles et Adrien. Il manquera beaucoup à ses bons amis Yolla, Najer, Johanne et bien d’autres.

Une cérémonie en son honneur est en cours d’organisation.

La famille tient à exprimer sa gratitude aux médecins, aux infirmières et infirmiers et tout Personnel de soutien exceptionnel à l’Hôpital d’Ottawa, campus Général.
