Alfred Stephen Knott

A leader who cared, an ear that listened, a friend to many.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father Alfred Stephen "Steve" Knott on May 6, 2024.

He was born in Toronto, Canada on September 1, 1943 to George and Mary (née O'Connor) Knott. Brother to Marilyn and Uncle to Michael and Kevin (June 10, 1968- November 24, 1990) Cartier.

He leaves behind his daughter Nadine, son-in-law Deni and grandchildren; Téadora, Adriano, and Olivia Crescenzi. His son Shawn, daughter-in-law Angela and grandchildren; Evangeline and Calyssa Knott and his ex-spouse Helen Hale.

Steve enjoyed a life full of heart and passion, facing each challenge with profound strength and perseverance. He was passionately dedicated to his Brotherhood with Local Union 353. He participated on several negotiation committees and was an elected officer to serve the local and it's membership as an executive board member, Financial Secretary and  Office Manager. Holding his positions through several elections with great understanding of the memberships needs. He had a compassionate ear to listen, and a passionate will to take action on the membership's behalf.

He initiated the movement to bring the Local Union-353 benefits and pension administration in house.
Spending tireless hours completing his C.E.B.S Employee Benefits' Degree with Dalhousie University. He established Toronto Electrical Benefit Administration Services Limited - T.E.I.B.A.S Ltd, filling the role as Executive Administrator with pride until his retirement (1989-2006).

He was a strong advocate for Mental Health serving as a facilitator for the Canadian Mental Health Association - CMHA, York Region & South Simcoe for over a decade. Steve offered an empathetic ear and was always there for others—it was in his nature to go to great lengths to help another souls in need.
