Adam Benjamin Campbell Tovey

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Adam Tovey, at the age of 56, on November 17th, 2024, surrounded by his family.

Loving son of Mary Ann Tovey, wonderful brother to Janet, Carol-Ann (Darren), Tom, Lisa (Chris) and fun loving Uncle to Adam (Rebecca), Tyler, Cachelle, Christopher (Kirsten), Karson, Nathan and Great Uncle to Bennett. Predeceased by his father, Tom Tovey. 

Adam was kind hearted, caring, humble, genuine, thoughtful and a fighter. He had a zest for life, a twinkle in his eye and a bright smile. He loved cars and trucks and enjoyed barbequing and smoking all kinds of meats, making lasagne, or sweet potato pie for his family to enjoy. He had a great sense of humour and loved laughing with his niece and nephews. He was a big Argos and Leafs fan, and enjoyed watching games with his mom and nephews! He was always sensitive to the needs of others and during the last 8 years developed a keen sense of observation due to the aphasia and apraxia robbing him of his ability to speak. His dog was a great companion, and Adam was heartbroken when Wrangler died.

Over the years, he found the strength to persevere and endure, in spite of overwhelming obstacles, but in the last few months, the twinkle in his eye slowly faded. We were all very fortunate to have had him in our lives. Adam taught us many things; patience, loyalty and how to be strong in the face of adversity. We are forever blessed by his life and forever changed by his death. 

Over his lifetime, his health issues took him to the Toronto Sick Kids and the Toronto General Hospital Peter Munk Cardiac Centre on a regular basis, where he was cared for by an amazing team of very special people. 

Special thanks to his nurse, Suzanne Hemeon, to Dr. Erwin Oechslin and Dr. Hormoz Hamrahi for their loving care of Adam. 

Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
