William “Bill” Kirkham, late of Waubamik, Ontario, passed away at Westside Long-term Care in Toronto on August 18, 2023 at the age of 87. Survived by his son, Patrick (Kyla) and daughter, Andrea “the Chick” (Martino); brother Frank (Susan); sisters Joyce and Doris; sisters-in-law Florence, Lillie, Marie, Cheryl, Anne, Vivian, and Peggy; brothers-in-law Domenico and Doug; grandchildren Anthony, Sarah, Gabriel, Isaiah, Adam, Luca, and Camille; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill is pre-deceased by his wife Freda; infant son Thomas; parents Edward and Edna; brothers Everett and Charlie; sister Clara; brothers-in-law Denis, Bill, Jim, Don, and Bill; parents-in-law Roy and Gladys.
Bill was born on June 4, 1936 and grew up on Lorimer Lake Road in Waubamik. He lived in Chelmsford, Ontario for many years while raising his family and working as a miner before retiring and returning home to the land he grew up on. He was an outdoorsman who found his greatest enjoyment in walking and working the land and his gardens; hunting, fishing, and spending time with his brothers, cousins, and nephews; and being at home with his family and the many dogs and cats he had over the years. He was a proud grandfather who was much beloved by his large, extended family and a favourite uncle to many.
A private service has been held. Arrangements in care of Basic Funeral Home in Toronto.
An open house Celebration of Life will be held from 12 to 2 pm on September 30, 2023 at Waubamik Hall.
The family would like to thank the family members, friends, PSWs, and health professionals who helped support Bill in his later years. We would also like to thank all of those who reached out to offer condolences and support. It is greatly appreciated.
