Glenn Murray Moffatt

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Glenn Moffatt, on Sunday July 9th 2023 at the age of 79.

Glenn was born in Toronto on May 23, 1944 to Fred and Roma Moffatt and grew up in Thornhill, Ontario. Following in his father’s footsteps, Glenn had a passion for Industrial Design and after graduating from OCAD in 1967, founded Moffatt Associates as Principle Industrial Designer. Glenn had a very successful career designing a wide range of consumer and industrial products, most notably an expert in electric kettles and the GT Snow Racer.

Glenn joined Humber College as a Professor of Industrial Design and Coordinator of Special Projects in 1995 and made significant contributions to Humber’s Industrial Design programs over his 27 year career before his retirement in 2022 and was remembered for his support, patience and passion by his students and faculty.

In 1972 Glenn married his wife Ann and together, built their cottage from the ground up on Acton Island, on Lake Muskoka. Glenn and Ann spent summers there raising their sons, Eric and Bryan who will forever have great memories of their time on the lake together. He was always generous with his time to lend a helping hand to his countless friends and neighbours with projects and there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t fix.

Glenn had many hobbies and interests including woodworking, scuba diving, restoring classic boats and cars and was a talented musician and Trombonist for the band Studio Twelve, who played at many venues within the GTA over the years.

Glenn leaves behind his wife Ann, sons Eric (Sylvana) and Bryan (Judy), and was a proud and loving “Paw” to granddaughters Hailey and Madeleine and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

For those wanting to honour Glenn, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, or to Plant a Tree as a living tribute to Glenn.
